Growing Pains

  • Aug. 11th, 2008 at 6:32 AM

I can definitely say that in my twenties I was not disciplined or serious enough to work independently from home.  I needed a schedule, an office and someone to follow up with me.

Ten plus years later, as an experienced and mature adult who relishes independence, flexibility, freedom and a reliable income  I couldn’t think of a better job than one where I could work from home.  Writing from home has been a dream come true.

Even if you are a people person, don’t assume that working from home isn’t for you.  There are a multitude of careers where you can work independently, but not be sitting in front of a computer all day.  A home based business can look differently based on the individual.

Because so many large companies are personalizing their services, not only are their profits going up because of closer relationships with clients, but they have happier employees who are willing to work flexible hours more often.

So, take a chance, develop a plan of attack and pursue one of the many options availble to you.

Smoothing Out the Edges

  • Aug. 10th, 2008 at 6:39 AM

I have been so fortunate to have my family and friends support me as I’ve pursued my dream of working from home.  The transition has been a bit more difficult than I expected.  I have two children who wouldn’t be happy watching television all day, nor would I be happy with that.  What I do have is a supportive spouse and relatives and friends nearby who have pitched in and helped out when needed.

A classic example is that I have a deadline I’ve been working toward, I’ve already worked the entire evening and once morning comes, I need a little rest.  My husband has been gracious enough to make childcare arrangements with a nearby friend so I can catch up on a little work and a little sleep.

This is not the way corporate America typically functions, but when you work from home you have the flexibility to deal with life and work from the same location!

With at home job opportunities, you’ll find that not only do you win, but your clients and employer benefit as well.  Take that leap and find the perfect fit for your lifestyle.

Rules from the Home Front

Working from home is more popular now than ever before, thanks to the advances of the internet.  With the rising cost of gas, wouldn’t it be nice to eliminate your commute and actually keep a little money in your pocket?

If you are trying to determine if working from home is right for you, there are many factors to consider.  Some of the most important, are what kind of work industry would you like to be a part of?  Can you afford to work from home? We all know that transitioning from one job to another can require a financial sacrifice, at least for a short period of time.

Finally, are you disciplined enough to keep yourself on task each day? It may seem like there doesn’t need to be a routine when you are working from home, but lack of a basic schedule could be more trouble than it’s worth.

There is a large variety of work at home business opportunities to choose from.  There’s no doubt about it, with a little research and a lot of determination, you’ll find the one that’s right for you.

Suitable Attire Not Required

The options for how to make money online are becoming more plentiful everyday.  The internet is not just a business resource for computer geeks, but it is an actual business for men and women across the globe.

A classic example of how the internet has changed the way people buy and sell items would be e-bay.  You can buy collectibles, electronics, books, even cars on e-bay.  And if you feel like you are getting a bargain on e-bay, think about those who are selling.  They are making a profit.

I have a good friend from Illinois who sells children’s clothing on e-bay.  Essentially, she has her own e-bay store and sells specific products to target consumers-doesn’t this sound like any other business?  And she really makes a great living from her sales.

Other ideas might be writing and selling e-books, freelance writing and web design.

Analyze your interests and abilities, research how marketable your services will be and then let success be your guide.  Thousands and thousands of people are making a profit by working from home online, why not you?

Money Isn't Free and Other Life Lessons

I had a really eye opening conversation with my five-year old daughter the other day.  I told her we needed to choose which activity we were going to do over the weekend, because we couldn’t do both due to the cost of gas on top of the cost of the activity.  My daughter had determined that we could do both if we just use our plastic card.

You could see this as either the beginning of an argument or a teaching opportunity. I chose the latter.  My daughter is figuring out that it takes money to survive in this world, but I would like to add to that, that although it takes money to survive, you can choose what you spend it on.

There are a lot of lessons to be learned from the internet.  An important lesson is that not everything you read will be true, but the online world is full of opportunity for gleaning information of all kinds.

If you are thinking about starting your own business, please note that you can make real money online as well.  So, if you don’t want to commute to work everyday, feel stuck in your current position or are just looking for a fresh start, there are multitudes of opportunities for you to work online and make a living as well.

Stepping Out of the Shadows

I’ve been a stay at home mom for a few years now.  Before I had children, I had a very rewarding job where I worked with great people, where I was able to see goals reached daily and where I got a lot of affirmation both professionally and personally.

Some may think that it’s shallow to get so much out of a job.  Although my entire identity wasn’t based on my work accomplishments, I did find it rewarding in many ways.

So, when I became restless several months ago, I started looking at some employment options online.  I typed in, “best internet home based business.”  What I found was just what I was looking for.

I was looking for a way to get plugged back in professionally, without having to leave my home or my children.  I now have a great job as a freelance writer where my hours are flexible, the pay is good, and the work is plentiful.

So, if you’re like me,  and  you’re looking for a way to make some money from home, be creative with your research and check out your options on the internet.  I think you’ll be surprised.

I remember, not too long ago, how it felt to never have enough money for the extras.  Dinner out, a weekend vacation or just the freedom to not have to work for a little relaxation time were all extras.

Now that I’m working from home and actually have my own home online based business, it feels great to have a little financial cushion.

It took some research online to find the right fit for my schedule, but writing from home has been a dream come true.

So, if you’re looking for an online business from home or would like to find some options for a better career, take a look around on the web, you’ll be surprised at what’s available to you.

Unusual is Right On The Mark

If you’re anything like me, you may think that you have to work with an established company for a few years before they would ever consider letting you work from home.  Well, think again!  There are an abundance of home jobs employment opportunities for beginners.

The amazing opportunities that exist in cyberspace are enough to overwhelm your senses.  There are typing jobs, writing positions, data entry, and transcribing jobs that can be found in a heartbeat.  It doesn’t stop there though.  You can also find people who run their dream business from their homes. I found people who provide web design, personal training, life coaching, catering-all from their home and very professionally. You don’t have to look far to find what you want to do.  The hard part is deciding which one you want to pursue.

I was already working a full-time job and I needed to make some extra money for my family, so I began looking for any possibility I could to keep from having to go to another on-site workplace. When I set out to find an opportunity for a home based business, I wanted to know what the top ten home based businesses were and how I could find out what each of them had to offer me. Of course, I turned to the internet for my endeavors and within minutes, away I went. At first, it was difficult swimming through the misleading information that is out there for home business opportunities; some will try and trick you into paying for something that you could have retrieved all on your own. I did not let these things stop me from moving towards my goal. I have joined a few membership programs and I only paid a small one-time fee, keep in mind that these should be useful websites and you will need to do some research about them before you become a member. I am so pleased with my progress and my future with being my own boss.

I turned my work at home job into something I loved to do and now I feel so thankful to use my abilities to make money. Itʼs so great to feel good about what I am doing and help out our family. Typing Allows Me to Stay Home with My Baby!

  • Jul. 26th, 2008 at 8:48 AM
After I had my first child, I did not want to return to work. We needed a second income, but I didn’t want to leave my daughter everyday either. I began researching work at home jobs. It took weeks of deciding what job was right for me, doing plenty of thorough research, and weeding through scams before I found the work at home job opportunity that was right for me. I am a medical transcriptionist. I type out notes that doctors and lawyers have recorded verbally. It’s a great job for me because I have the ability to stay home with my daughter and make good money. I decided transcription was the right work from home job opportunity for me because I am a good typist. Little did I know back in high school and college that those typing classes would one day be a huge asset! I enjoy my job and the best part is that I get to spend all day with my baby!

Starting a Business Does Not Require an MBA

  • Jul. 24th, 2008 at 8:39 AM
My next door neighbor is a scrapbooking genius. She owns more than $20,000 worth of scrabooking supplies. She makes everything from actual scrapbooks to party invitations to place cards. She is amazing. I have told her countless times that she should really go into business for herself – she could easily make a fortune! One day after we had a conversation about it, I decided to take my own advice. I started thinking about what I could do to start my own business. I was kind of reluctant and nervous because I have no previous business experience except for the eight months that I managed a feed and seed store. I had no education beyond my high school diploma – I definitely wasn’t an MBA. After doing some research, though, I found that it wouldn’t be too hard for me to start something. I have always enjoyed writing and considering I nailed the Reading and English sections of the ACT (we won’t go into my Math and Science scores – ouch!) I thought I might be able to do something in the area of writing. It turned out I didn’t need an MBA – or even an ABA for that matter – no college was even necessary. Just a simple computer with an internet connection helped me to start out my internet home based business.

There's Freedom in Working From Home!

  • Jul. 19th, 2008 at 9:08 AM
I was fortunate enough to have been shown that I have the ability and the dedication to my work to have ventured out on a new career path. I am so grateful to have started my home business, and let me just tell you how wonderful it is to be at home with my children during their summer break from school. I used to dread having to send them to a babysitter while I worked, besides it costing me a fortune, I felt like I needed to be there more for them. My new home business is saving my family hundreds of dollars a week in child care, gasoline, and I am able to be with my little ones all day. Once you find your business opportunity home based you will enjoy great freedoms that you haven’t had with any other career. I am now working full time, right in my own home office, on my own computer, and I am doing something that I love. Being a parent and having the means to be successful is making me feel like I am making even more of a difference in my family’s life.

I am always look for cool opportunities to either save money or make money. I love getting things for FREE! It kind of my mantra. At or below cost has been a theme in my life for years. Yes, I love a great bargain. I believe these are a ton of internet home business opportunity based  jobs that are available at our fingertips. I have let my fingers do the walking and I have found so many awesome ways for me to make extra cash and have fun doing it in the process.

For years I did marketing research for area companies looking for people who can share their opinions and how to make products better. I have also done mystery shopping where I go to a restaurant and evaluate the food, service and atmosphere and then I get reimbursed. Nothing better than FREE dinner! I have learned though that you should never give money to these firms. They will hire you as in independent contractor and you will get paid after you do the work for them. Itʼs a great way to earn money and have a chance to go out for dinner on someone elseʼs tab. Have fun searching for your opportunity!

I have finally found my niche!  I’ve been writing for a fabulous company right here in Cincinnati.  It’s been such a blessing for my family-the extra income, the time with my family and being incredibly flexible is just the icing on the cake.

Did I mention I found my job right on the web? I am a a witness that there are companies legitimate work at home opportunities.  I don't think you’ll ever get tired of running your own business and being your own boss.  I know for myself, I’ve really enjoyed taking on as little or as much work as I can handle at a particular time.  And being able to eat lunch with my children and put my own son down for a nap-not a babysitter has been a joy!  These are the memories we’ll cherish, just spending time together.  Anyone can do it.  Take what you love to do and turn it into your very own business.  That’s what I did and it’s working better than I ever expected.
